You move to a new home within California. Within how many days must you notify DMV of your new address?
- Within 10 days. Correct answer
- Within 20 days.
- Within 30 days.
Why
DMV uses your address of record for renewal notices and legal notices, and keeping it current is your responsibility: report a move within ten days, online or by mail. You do not automatically receive a new license card when you change your address; you can request a replacement for a fee. Twenty days is a real deadline in the handbook, but it belongs to registering a vehicle you bring from another state once you become a resident or take a job here. Thirty days is not a deadline the handbook sets at all. The other numbers nearby: five days to tell DMV you sold or transferred a vehicle, and ten days to put a vehicle you bought into your own name. Ten is the address deadline.
